Now, after the chapter’s release, we can look back on our theories to see which were correct, which may still be confirmed in further chapters, and which have been disproved completely. To begin, the white pen of hope did not make an appearance in this chapter; the white feather seen in the trailer
turned out to be the petal feather. While being integral to the chapter’s mechanics, it doesn’t seem to hold much narrative weight.
Next, the enemy using Omega Flowey’s knife attack was revealed to be Aqua, the first of the seven colored flowers in Asgore’s shop. Each of the other flowers have another of Omega Flowey’s attacks, which correspond to their color. In retrospect, this twist seems fairly obvious. The contrast between the seven flowers and the seven soulsin Undertale was very clear as they were displayed and colored.
Finally, almost all prior predictions about the festival turned out to be incorrect. Rather than occurring at the chapter’s end as most expected, it actually occurred at the beginning. No catastrophic events with immediate consequences occurred. Instead, such a catastrophic event occurred exclusively in the weird route, resulting in the premature end of the chapter and the bypassing of chapter 6 altogether.
While the response to the chapter has been mostly positive, some have voiced their complaints with the chapter’s looser focus on the overarching narrative, especially compared to the enormous impact of chapter four. While we did experience Rudy’s injury, quite possibly the catalyst for the dark world in the next chapter, many expected something more substantial to occur at the

festival, or at the very least a major reveal at some point in the chapter. This has led to members of the fanbase becoming concerned that Toby Fox doesn’t have sufficient time to properly wrap up all of the story threads that he has introduced. This fanbase response was strong enough to provoke a response from Fox in his recent newsletter. While unable to say much, he did confirm that chapter six would contain a major reveal, and that by the end of the game, everyone would understand why the game is structured as is. Even without saying much at all, this response has quelled a lot of he fear fans had, showing that Toby Fox has gained such trust of the community that a simple assurance was all they needed. With all of these mysteries still left unanswered, fans are eagerly anticipating the release of Deltarune’s next chapter, which is likely coming next year.
